What Obedience Looks Like to God

There is Beauty in Obedience, There is Anointing in Obedience, There is Life in Obedience.

Have you ever been to the place in your life where you felt as though the Lord was asking you to do something, and you didn’t do it?

I’ve been there. I’ve felt that nudge, I’ve heard His voice, and I didn’t make the move.

I was too worried about the “what if”. Would it cause me pain? Would it cost me my pride? If we’re being honest with ourselves, we have all been to that place sometime in our lives, and we didn’t make that move.

But have you ever been to the place where God asked you to make a bold move, and you did it?

I have been there too. And let me tell you, sometimes following God does cause you to be uncomfortable. Following what God has asked of you does cause you to stretch out of your comfort zone. It may seem out of the ordinary for you. It may cause you to strip yourself of your pride.

But there is Beauty in Obedience. It is worth following God and obeying His voice and walking down the path that He has planned for you. There is nothing more beautiful!

The Blessings That Flow

Deuteronomy chapter 28 talks about the many blessings that flow when we step into obedience and obey God’s commands.

Deuteronomy 28:1 (CSB) “Now if you faithfully obey the Lord your God and are careful to follow all his commands I am giving you today, the Lord your God will put you far above all the nations of the earth. All these blessings will come and overtake you, because you obey the Lord your God”.

The scriptures that follow talk about the many blessings such as;

  • blessed in the city, blessed in the country

  • your offspring will be blessed

  • your land’s produce will be blessed

  • blessed when you come and when you go out

  • blessings on your barns and on everything you do

  • the Lord will make you prosper abundantly

  • the Lord will open His abundant storehouse to give your land rain in its season and bless all the work of your hands

  • you will lend and not borrow

The word “overtake” means to come suddenly or unexpectedly on.

Think about that for a second. When you begin to step out in obedience of what the Lord wants you to do all of these promises that are mentioned in Deuteronomy 28 will overtake you. So, do not be surprised when you suddenly have a windfall come your way. Do not be surprised when God places His favor over your life because of your obedience and doors begin to open that you thought were forever closed.

The Power In Obedience

There is power in obedience to God!

When you obey what God has directed you to do, believe and expect that blessings are inevitable. It is certain to happen and will be unavoidable. Why? Because it’s scripture and God is bound to His Word.

The Lord told my husband and me to step out in obedience concerning different areas of our life. One particular area was concerning the inability to conceive a baby. We had tried to have a child for 8 years. One day I felt a kick in my stomach and I knew immediately that I was expecting! It was a whirlwind of joyful emotions and excitement to say the least, especially when the doctor told me that I was 26 weeks pregnant.

You see, for 26 weeks (over 6 months) there had been something forming in the depths of my womb that I knew nothing about. There was a heartbeat, there was life, there was movement and we knew nothing about it.

You may have stepped out in obedience and have not seen the full blessings from God just yet. You can trust and believe that there is something being formed in the midst that you know nothing about. There is a heartbeat, life, and movement in your miracle and blessing.

It may take time, but the overflow of blessings will come in its due season. One day you just may wake up to kick of expectancy in your situation and the blessings will overtake you.
