Relief For The Overwhelmed Mom

There comes a time when an overwhelmed mom needs relief! It doesn’t mean that she doesn’t love her children. It doesn’t mean that she doesn’t love the role that she has of being a Mom. It simply means that life can get a little overwhelming, chaotic, and tiring.

If you’re sitting there nodding your head then this article is just for you.

It’s okay to admit that you are feeling overwhelmed right now. It’s okay to admit that you may not have all of your ducks in a row. You may be feeling drained and you know what? That’s okay too.

Hey girlfriend, we get it. There are many, many other women who have felt what you are currently feeling. And I’m going to let these lovely women encourage you with their words.

Overwhelmed Mom Tips

“You are not alone even when you feel so very lonely and like not only have you slowly slipped away and morphed into a whole other person but that no one has even noticed. You are not alone. If your support system is broken, do what it takes to fix it. You need it. No one should go through motherhood alone.”

“Part of the reason why you feel like you’re overwhelmed as mom is because deep down you’re actually questioning yourself.

If your honest, do you feel like a failure, as a mom? I did.

It’s so easy to compare yourself with others. And when you do, you start feeling inadequate and confused about who you really are and who you need to be. Finding yourself really comes down to this simple question: what or who is determining your identity?”

Jennifer from Heaven Not Harvard gives great tips on How to Be a Peaceful Parent When You’re Overwhelmed.

“To stop being the overwhelmed mom, Hit PAUSE:

  • Pray for clarity, wisdom, gentleness. I usually pray to see this moment with God’s eyes.
  • Assess what is happening in your heart and home. Is it spiritual, emotional, physical?
  • Understand your goal as a parent is to raise children who glorify God.
  • Sympathize with what your child is feeling or needing in that moment.
  • Engage with your child in a peaceful, positive manner.”

Tired And Overwhelmed Mom Encouragement

“Take a deep breath, then breathe out and call on the precious Name of Jesus. Believe me, when you begin to focus on Him and His love for you, you will understand that no matter how crazy life seems He has complete control of your life.”

“If I’m honest, there are some days when I’d like to pull up the covers over my head and let everyone just fend for themselves.

Raising little ones into big ones who love and follow Jesus is the greatest work we can do for the Lord. If God has given you children, He has called you into the work of motherhood. On the days you struggle with needs that seem unending, or the demands of little ones are threatening to overwhelm you, and you feel your work is in vain, consider this: Your children will not always need you as they do now.”

“There are days when we just have to ask God to give us the strength to keep going. As Momma’s, we get tired, and weary, and worn down. It is important that we set aside time to just breathe. Being a mother and a wife is one of the most rewarding things! I do believe that this is what I was called to be…but sometimes I feel that I do not measure up to that calling.

I feel that there are women that do so much more than I and they seem to have it all put together. But this is me. And this is my family and my life. We shouldn’t try to measure up to others, but to measure up to what God wants us to be.”

Overwhelmed Mom Self-Care Tips

“In the midst of all of the running, you must give yourself permission to relax a second and find time for yourself. You have to admit that you’re running out of steam and that you aren’t superwoman. Although, I think we kinda are. You have to understand that you must take time for yourself so that you can recharge and be 100% for your family.”

“When people hear “self-care”, they envision themselves getting a mani-pedi or an hour long massage. They may picture themselves taking half of the day to go shopping, joining a yoga class, or quitting a job to follow their dreams. All in the pursuit of “self-care”. But what is self-care really?

More importantly, who has that kind of time? I rarely have 20 minutes between dinner and nursing my son to bed. Then after his bedtime, I race to clean bottles, tidy the house, complete homework, work on my blog, and pack the bags for the next day.

I go to bed feeling exhausted, overworked, and burnt out. And I’m hoping it stops now!”
